Erica Flores Baltodano graduated from UCLA (B.A.) and UC Berkeley School of Law (J.D.), where she received the prestigious Francine Diaz Memorial award for her steadfast commitment to public interest law. She began her legal career as a civil rights and environmental justice advocate in Los Angeles, shaping, guiding, and managing the legal and policy work of The City Project. At The City Project, Ms. Baltodano influenced the investment of billions of dollars in public resources to enhance human health and the environment, and promote equality and economic vitality for all communities.
Ms. Baltodano is now President of The Baltodano Firm, A Professional Corporation, which strategically and cost-effectively resolves employment disputes on behalf of employees in state and federal courts throughout California, including individual discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination cases, and class action wage and hour litigation. The Baltodano Firm builds upon a rich history of litigation and social justice advocacy to meet the employment law needs of a diverse clientele.
In 2010, Ms. Baltodano co-founded and served as managing partner of The Baltodano Firm’s predecessor Central Coast employment law firm, receiving the Access to Justice Award from San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation in 2017 and recovering tens of millions of dollars on behalf of individual and class member employment law clients.
Ms. Baltodano regularly lectures and presents educational programs geared toward children, people of color, and women. She delivered the keynote address at the San Luis Obispo Women’s March in 2017, serves on the San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation Board of Directors, and is a member of a newly formed Task Force advising the San Luis Coastal Unified School District’s Superintendent. In addition to a variety of published law journal articles and book chapters addressing social justice legal issues, Baltodano was presented with the 2016 Frank J. Pentangelo Award by the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association for her series of Mommy Esquire articles merging lessons in civil rights law with lessons in parenting.
